Enjoys the tube

I kinda like personalized license plates.

Here's one I saw, as we were driving through the local shopping mall's parking garage (I took the photo; my wife was driving).

You'll probably have to click on the photo to enlarge it.

Two cars

I'm not "into" cars -- but occasionally I encounter one that appeals to me.

This one seemed a little "steampunk":

I also liked this personalized plate:  "Feisty one".

I'm a big respecter of privacy -- but given that these license plates are on public display all the time, I'm pretty comfortable with posting these pics on my blog.

Well for goodness sake

So, this morning, Monday the 9th, some novice driver failed to yield the right-of-way and hit my car.  **Again**.

So, in the past year I've been in three fender-benders.  Luckily, each one was the other driver's fault -- and all were reasonably minor.  Two were from novice drivers; one was from a middle-aged lady who should've known better, but was too busy talking to her mother in the passenger's seat.

This one was in the brown car (sedan), not our red car (4WD).

Still, a nuisance:  now I have to go to a body shop to get an estimate -- and later, I lose access to the car for a few days while the repairs are made.

Gah.

Misplaced car

My wife's late grandfather owned the property we built our house on.  Grandad was a pack rat.  Because of that, we have a pretty neat-o back yard.

For example:  I knew this car (pictured) was underneath the brush and vines -- I just hadn't excavated it.  So now -- or technically, this last weekend -- it's seeing the light of day for the first time in probably 30 years.

It's a Rover P4:  I don't know anything more than that.

Somewhere out back there's also the cab of a 1940s flatbed delivery truck.  Somewhere...

Best parking space

This is the parking place that I usually get when I park.

Pretty darned good location: No-one to my left (due to the kerbing); no one to my immediate right (due to the pillar). So, no idiots to open their car door into me.

Plus, the spacing is slightly wider than the usual parking space.

Most mornings, I manage to get it.

Naming the car

Yesterday I drove the truck (Land Rover Discovery) for the first time. Although it's much larger than the car we traded in for it, I adjusted fairly quickly -- probably because back in my twenties I spent a few years driving a delivery truck.

We're working on finding a good name for it. I've been calling it “the truck”, but my wife and my daughter want to call it “the big red car” -- partly due to The Wiggles song, and partly because the car we traded in was “the big white car” (to distinguish it from our little white car).

We'll gravitate towards something: you can't really "force" a nickname -- it sticks, or it doesn't.

Time will tell.
