Wrong symbolism

I've driven past this tons of times -- and only now realized the discrepancy.

Hint:  Those aren't ice-flakes....

Good phrase

The Girl was writing notes for a history test on ancient Greece. For the section on the ancient Olympics, she started to write that they competed in the nude – or rather, “They were in the nude” – but as she was writing it, she changed her mind and wrote “naked”.

So, when I was quizzing her on the content, one of her dot-points was “They were in the naked”.

"In the naked" is a good phrase.

It sounds almost German.

Amusing pics from Japan

My folks were in Japan a little while ago, and my dad sent me a few photos.

These three were my favorites.

Regarding the middle photo:  In the U.S. you "get takeout" (food); in Australia, it's a called "takeaway".  So, an extra level of amusement for me.

Woodworking humor

Not everyone will understand why this is funny.

And that's okay.

Why indeed

We had just dropped The Girl and TechBoy off at Tae Kwon Do, and The Lady was heading home to drop me and Blondie Boy off, and then return to the school to wait for The Girl and TechBoy to finish their class.

The Lady:  “I don't know what we're going to do about dinner.”

Gye Greene:  “Maybe we could go to Subway -- eat dinner – and let The Girl and TechBoy starve.”

Blondie Boy:  “Really?”

Gye Greene:  (Starts laughing, that Blondie Boy thought he was being serious)

The Lady:  “Daddy is trying to be funny.”

Blondie Boy:  “Why does daddy try to be funny?”  (Pause)  (Answering his own question)  “Because he's a Peterson?”

Gye Greene:  “That's right.”

Blondie Boy:  “Why are Petersons a type of comedy family?”

Why indeed.

Birds with hats

Saw these in a shop today, and was amused.

Birds with hats.  Sure.  :)

Not worth the price to actually purchase one.  But to take a photo...

Fine art

This print of a painting by Monet is in one of our conference rooms at work.

And someone put a sticky-note underneath it.

So juvenile. ;)
