Feels like Christmas
For the last few days, it's been feeling Christmas-y to me -- or at least, wintery -- on a primal, instinctive level. Just figured out why.
There's a chill in the air -- I'm in the southern hemisphere, so it's pre-winter, not pre-summer. And I'm sleep-deprived, so things are a little surreal.
Groggy and chilly -- just like the end of semester, finals week, of Winter semester. Aha! Yep, feels like that. Eight years of grad-school conditioning; subconscious association.
Kinda spooky.

How to they explain Santa's sleigh to small Australian children? (these are the things I worry about).
I've asked The Lady that. Apprently, the kids live with the contradiction. Not only is it hotter here, we're also in summer. There's a Rolf Harris song called "Six White Boomers," about how Santa switches to kangaroos when he's on the down-under leg of his trip. And they sell plastic snowmen for lawns, etc.
I guess people just live with the contradiction. :)
