Parental hearing

Parents apparently have specially-attuned hearing.

Today's Saturday, and I'm in the kitchen getting breakfast for the kids. From the other end of the house, I hear ''blarrgggh!!!'' -- that is, a barfing sound -- coming from my daughter's room.

''Are you o.k.?'', I holler.

''I'm o.k.!'', my daughter replies. ''I was just pretending!''

Mmm-kay. (??!!)

Interesting that I could hear that.
